Rejoice and Be Thankful

Jesus and his closest followers traveled from place to place, and Jesus taught and healed many people along the way. One day, Jesus was traveling and he passed through a certain village. As he entered the village, ten men with an awful skin disease called leprosy were standing there. This skin disease made them religiously unclean and unable to be a part of their community. They were yelling, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” Jesus looked at them and he said, “God show yourselves to the religious leaders so that they can see that you are healed and so that you can join your community again.”

As the men went, their leprosy disappeared. One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God, I’m healed!” He fell face down on the ground at Jesus’ feet to give him thanks for what he had done. Jesus said, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Is this the only man who has returned to give credit to God for doing this and — he’s a foreigner — not even one of my own countrymen?” Jesus said, “Stand up and go. Your belief in me has made you well.”
